MY STORY

EDUCATION

I am two-time graduate of Louisiana State University (Master of Mass Communication-Strategic Public Relations & Advertising; B.A. in Mass Communication-Public Relations). My undergraduate and graduate years in the Baton Rouge area proved to be full of rich professional experiences in the field of strategic communications and design/marketing. Recent organizations and clients include: LSU Student Government, LSU Office of Communications and University Relations, Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge, The Louisiana Marathon, and the LSU Department of Residential Life.

RESUME & EXPERIENCE

STORYTELLING

I’m a storyteller. Some stories are written in AP style and shared with media outlets or news organizations. Many are digital and social in nature, often taking shape through type treatments and photography, after countless hours working in Adobe CS6 getting those layouts just right. In my daily work, the stories I share connect with incoming LSU students and their families, or with the larger LSU community in promotion and recruitment efforts. In the evenings and weekends, the stories I tell are shared through lyrics sung in a production on stage at the local theatre or the choreography rehearsed in a dance studio across town. These are the stories I tell. Day in and day out, I connect with people and bring my creativity in to all things I do. My art keeps me passionate about Public Relations, and my background in strategic communications challenges me to innovate my art and grow as a “creative” in a continuously evolving industry.

MORE ABOUT ME

While many  years at LSU may have been spent in mass communication classrooms, I never lost touch with my passion for the creative performing arts. My music and acting bug started when I was very young. I played the saxophone and clarinet in bands and orchestras for many years, before becoming captivated by theatre, dance, and vocal performance. Over the last decade, I have performed with various regional theater organizations and freelance vocal/dance gigs as well as nationally while competing vigorously with the LSU Speech Team for four years. In 2011-12, I earned the rank of a National Quarterfinalist in Dramatic Interpretation at the American Forensic Association national tournament, and also served as the first LSU student to hold the position of the National Student Representative to all college speech programs in the SEC. Much of my theatre passions and love of interpreting literature stems from my nearly 11 years in highly competitive forensics, public speaking, and acting. The competitive arts sharpened my skills and helped me grow tremendously as a communicator, strategist, creative thinker, and innovator.

CREATIVITY

The creative side of my brain does most of the talking. I tackle almost all challenges in life, whether personal or professional, with a creative approach targeted at generating solutions.

STRATEGY

But don’t fret, I keep a tight grip on strategies while jumping down those creative rabbit holes. I empower creative ideas with a strong sense of strategy and an emphasis on genuine relationships with audiences.

PASSION

I have been a dreamer and a hard worker my entire life. My passion for living with big goals, innovative ideas, and even bigger hand gestures is a driving force in all things I do. Well…and iced coffee.

“With an eye for creative, strategic communication and a passion for storytelling, I am inspired by the integration of new media solutions in the ways we maintain relationships with audiences.”
